There is a Place

There is a place where we will see
The truth about humility
It's there we'll lay our fear and pride
And all the ways we've learned to hide

There is a place beyond ourselves
Compassion reigns and mercy dwells
It's here we face our desperate need
And yearn to stay at Jesus feet

No other place I'd rather be
Than here at the cross my Savior King
Broken by love poured out for me
A sacred place You humble me....
I surrender

There is a place where we will find
The grace to leave the past behind
The hurt and sin, the chains that bind
We choose to break so love survives

No other place I'd rather be
Than here at the cross my Savior King
Broken by love poured out for me
A sacred place You humble me
A favorite place where I am free

There is a place where sorrow ends
And heavens tears will heal and cleanse
It's there I wait for all to mend
And to see your face again.

  1. For whatever reason, this is my favorite song. Even though it is very simple, it never fails to make me cry - when I sing it or just read the lyrics. Somehow it taps into that deep place that so yearns for a time and place when all is "as it should", where love truly does cover all sin. And where relationship is fully restored - with God and with those whom I carry close to my heart. It speaks of a longing to be reunited with loved ones who have since passed, but also the reconciliation of past relationships damaged by selfishness and pride.

There is a part in the song where it says, "We choose to break so love survives". It means not only to break the chains of the past, but also to allow ourselves to be broken "....so love survives". Real love takes the path of humility in recognizing all the ways it has fallen short, or all the times it had wrong, selfish, and/or impure motives. Without this, love cannot survive.

And the ending.......the day when all shall be healed and whole with see Him and each other - through the eyes of heaven.
